Enterprise Information Management team of Thales in the Netherlands is looking for an experienced Data Modeller.

The Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team is a central team facilitating the data management, business reporting and analytics needs of the Thales Netherlands organisation. The team consists of different data experts who deliver adequate data and information solutions in close collaboration with business stakeholders.
About the job
Thales in the Netherlands has committed to the objective of becoming a ‘data-driven company’, where facts and unambiguous information are leading in decision making. You will join the team that is the driving force behind the Data Governance program within Thales NL.
As a Data Modeller you will work closely with Data Governance Managers in designing and documenting Enterprise Data Model, which will be used as a reference for the current and the future developments requiring clear and unified view on our company’s data. Also, you will cooperate with solution architects and BI specialists to implement data modelling solutions in order to streamline and support enterprise information management.
You will be responsible to maintain consistency and accuracy of data models, as well as for meta data management. You will be in contact with the relevant stakeholders from various business domains in order to collect and collate information and data needs, and translate and incorporate those into our Enterprise Data Model. In cooperation with enterprise and solution architects you will help identify and document data flows between different systems and applications, and map those to the Enterprise Data Model.
Responsibilities
- Work with Data Governance, business, and architecture/solution teams to implement data strategies, and design and develop conceptual and logical Enterprise Data Model.
- Define and govern data modelling standards, best practices and related development for Enterprise Data Model(s).
- In collaboration with IS/IT identify the architecture, infrastructure and interfaces between different systems and applications, discover and document data flows.
- Reverse engineer and evaluate existing physical databases, optimise data models and map them to the Enterprise Data Model.
- Publish and keep up to date the data models and related meta-data.
- Maintain modelling tools.
About you
As a person you are a communicator, friendly, able to make a rapport with people, loyal and trustworthy. You have strong analytical skills. You are able to quickly grasp the big picture and dive into details. You are a quick learner and willing to learn and improve constantly. You can act independently, but also join in the team efforts as a team-player.
Experience:
- Completed (technical) education with university level (WO) of thinking and working.
- Several years of experience as a Data Modeller.
- Experienced with data modelling principles (conceptual, logical, physical).
- Experience and familiarity with various modelling and implementation methodologies (relational, dimensional, Data Vault).
- Experience with data modelling tools (e.g. ER/Studio, erwin).
- Hands on experience with database implementation and SQL is a plus (preferably SQL Server and Oracle).
- Experience with BI and analytics is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience of business process modelling (BPMN 2.0) as well as enterprise architecture modelling (ArchiMate) is a plus.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
